Card Terminals
Who is this article for?
Account owners, or team members whose role has:
- Locations and terminals set to View to see terminals, or Manage to add them
Set roles in All apps > Setup > Roles.
Included in every plan.
Smatyx works with Dojo and SumUp card readers. When a guest pays by card, the POS sends the amount to the reader, and the payment comes back to the order by itself: nothing to type twice.
Before you start
Connect your card provider to the store in All apps > Setup > Sales: pick the store with in the app bar and open Payments.
- Dojo: turn on Dojo payment and enter your Dojo API key
- SumUp: turn on SumUp payment, then tap Connect with SumUp and sign in, or enter your API key and Merchant Code. Once connected, SumUp shows Connected to SumUp and a Disconnect button
Add a card reader
- Go to All apps > Setup > Terminals
- Tap Add terminal
- Enter a Name staff will recognise, such as "Counter card reader", and pick the Store
- Under Connection, pick the Type:
- Dojo: pick the Terminal from the list of readers on your Dojo account
- SumUp: pick a Reader, or tap Pair new reader, give it a name, and enter the Pairing code the reader shows
- Tap Create
Then add the reader to the store, so the POS offers it: in Setup > Sales, open Payments and tap Select existing payment terminals under Payment terminals setup.
Set a reader to Inactive to keep it on record without offering it on the POS.
The default reader on each POS
Each POS device can pick a reader for you, one for each card method: tap your avatar in the app bar, then under This device open POS and set Default payment terminal. It is picked for you at payment, and you can still pick another one. Ask each time leaves the choice to the payment.
