Kitchen Display System

Who is this article for?

Account owners, or team members with:

  • Handle kitchen orders

Set permissions in All Apps > Settings > Roles.

The KDS replaces paper tickets with a digital screen. Orders appear instantly when placed from POS or self-ordering.

Accessing the KDS

  1. Go to All Apps > Sales operation
  2. Select your store using the store selector
  3. Go to KDS

Kitchen stations (optional)

If your kitchen has separate prep areas (grill, cold, drinks), you can set up stations so each screen only shows relevant items:

  1. Go to All Apps > Settings > Stores
  2. Open your store, find Kitchen Stations
  3. Add stations and assign menu categories to each

On the KDS, tap the station selector icon in the app bar to pick which stations to display.

Without stations, the KDS shows all items.

The KDS flow

1. Order comes in

When an order is placed, items appear in the Cooking tab. Each order card shows:

  • Order code
  • Table name (for dine-in)
  • Customer name (if provided)
  • Time since items were sent

Items are grouped by order method (dine-in, take-away, delivery).

2. Mark items as ready

Kitchen staff prepares the food and marks items done:

  • Ready this item - marks one item as cooked
  • Ready all - marks all items in the order as cooked at once

Ready items move from the Cooking tab to the Ready / Served tab.

3. Serve items

When food is delivered to the customer:

  • Serve this item - marks one item as served
  • Serve all - marks all items as served

4. Complete the order

When all items in an order are served and nothing is left pending, the Complete order button appears. Tap it to finish the order.

5. Call to pick up

For take-away or counter service, tap Call to pick up order to announce the order number using text-to-speech. The customer hears their order called out.

Sending items back

Sometimes things need to go back:

  • Return to cooking - sends a cooked item back to the Cooking tab
  • Return to ready - sends a served item back to the Ready tab
  • Remove item - removes an item entirely

Printing

  • Print this item - prints a kitchen ticket for one item
  • Print all items - prints tickets for all items in an order

Item states

  1. Sent - item just arrived, in the Cooking tab
  2. Cooked - marked as ready, in the Ready tab
  3. Served - delivered to customer
  4. Items can move backward if needed

KDS History

Tap KDS History in the top bar to see today's item history - which items were cooked, when, and by whom.
